A structure to facilitate technology transfer

At Grenoble Institute of Technology, the GUV manages all activities relating to industrial relations, technology transfer and promoting business applications of research. It acts as an interface between the business world and the institute, so that laboratories can have a single point of contact as regards research contracts, partnerships, industrial and intellectual property, consultancy, business start-ups and tender processes, etc. The GUV has various partners in the public and private sector.

A private enterprise subsidiary

INPG ENTREPRISE SA is Grenoble Institute of Technology's private subsidiary. It handles all business prospecting operations as part of the GUV. It is active in its relationship with the business community, offering a range of professional services, including setting up partnerships with research scientists and laboratories, access to equipment, facilities, research platforms, as well as managing the related contracts and finance.

GUV's role

• Informing and training laboratories in drafting, negotiating and following up contracts (at a national and European level), and in industrial and intellectual property rules and various forms of promotion.
• Supporting researchers in seeking public or private partnerships or in providing consultancy and advice.
• Drawing up contracts right up until execution by the institute and its partners.
• Informing and supporting laboratories in financial contract management.
• Informing and supporting laboratories in staff recruitment stemming from contracts (public and private sector).
• Managing technology transfer and industrial protection operations (patents, software and know-how).
• Organizing the selection of transfer technology support funds (regional FITT and promotion funds).
• Advising and supporting business and start-up projects
• Promoting networking between Grenoble INP's industrial partners.
• Representing the institute on various bodies, networks and clubs involved in technology transfer and the collaboration between research industry.
• Collecting, compiling contractual activity and institutional promotion indicators and keeping them up to date
